Environmental Film Series: "Hometown Habitat"

6:30 PM - 8:30 PM
Washington Township Public Library

Event Details

Hometown Habitat features renowned entomologist Dr. Douglas Tallamy, whose research, books and lectures on the use of non-native plants in landscaping, sound the alarm about habitat and species loss. Tallamy provides the narrative thread that challenges the notion that humans are here and nature is someplace else. Inspiring stories of community commitment to conservation landscaping illustrate Tallamy‚Äôs vision by showing how humans and nature can co-exist with mutual benefits. The film will be followed by a Q&A with Edith Wallace, Ph.D., professor emerita of biology at William Paterson University.  Dr. Wallace spoke recently at the New Jersey Native Plant Society annual meeting on native plants found in the two dozen public gardens of the Garden State Gardens Consortium. She also gives talks on the native plants of DeKorte Park in the Hackensack Meadowlands and has led walks there.
