Event Details

Join us as libraries across North America celebrate Indie Author Day on October 8th, 2016.  This event is designed to bring local writing communities together in their libraries to participate in author panels, book signings, and more.  The day's schedule will be as follows:

10:00 - 11:30 AM: Children’s Author Panel, Q&A, and Book Signing

Featuring R. Antrobus, Tom Geden, C.A. Hartley, Susan Scarince Jones, Lauren Palermo, Michele Rosenthal, Loren Spiotta-DiMare, and Ronda Wojcicki

11:30 AM - 1:00 PM: Adult and Y/A Author Panel, Q&A, and Book Signing
Featuring J.R. Bale, Carol Camerino, J.A. Thornbury, Kristina Garlick, Pauline Hahn, Terin Tashi Miller, Bill Powers, and Robert Woolsey

1:00 - 2:00 PM: Preparing for Publication: How to Create a Solid Foundation for Successful Promotion
Now that your book is about to be or has already been published, how are you going to lead people to it who may, hopefully, buy it?  From determining your key audiences and markets to which social media tools are right for you, publishing veteran Claire McKinney will explain key steps that you can take to make the most of the marketing and publicity process.  (30 minute presentation with Q&A to follow)

2:00 - 3:00 PM: Indie Author Day Virtual Panel and Q&A for Authors
Featuring Robin Cutter (Director of IngramSpark), Jon Fine (Former Director of Author and Publisher Relations at Amazon), Kiera Parrott (Reviews Director at School Library Journal and Library Journal), L. Penelope (author,, and Jim Blanton (Director of Louisville Free Public Library).  Presented via YouTube livestream.

Attendees are welcome to bring their own lunch.
